How I can help your next ride
Mobile Charging
Clip me to any bike with dynamo, pedal, and charge! I am responsible for the regulation of the generated power so that you and your devices are always safe.
Battery Storage
When you don't charge or when you generate more energy then the current need, I store the extra electricity in the two batteries for future utilization.
Crash Detection
Hope you will never need to, but in case of bike falling and no response to the alarm, I can inform a loved one that you are in danger and send the GPS coordinates along.
Adaptive Resistance
I can lower my added resistance so you don't need extra effort when cycling uphill and increase my added resistance for better productivity when going downhill.
Personalization
You can set me to serve you according to your preferences. Like that you can decide on the crash reaction time to disactivate the alarm, and on the incline ranges’ resistances.
Urban optimization
Portel will gather statistics for where the cyclists ride most often, their average speed, where they are emergency braking and others and will give that data to the manicipality so they can optimize the roads for cyclists.

My History
The Birth of the Idea
JA competition / Oct, 2022
The idea was born on October 7th, 2022 during a competition of the youth organization Junior Achievement. Simon Radanski shared it with his team, and it was selected to represent them and brought them 2nd place prize.
Prototype Development

Since then a lot of work had been done to make the hardware design, to select and order the elements, to prepare the boards, to print the housing, to think how to attach Portel on the bike, and so on. See also versioning information on the right.
Relationships
Open to Investors and Partners
Now the team is ready and hoping to meet investors and manufacturing partners that will make the mass production of Portel a success. We would also like to make a connection with bike shops which may sell Portel.
My Versions
Version 1
October 2022
Looking back to the prototype Version 1 - I was too big and heavy with dimensions: 200/150/115. Only basic function was available and no solution for mounting of the device was previewed.
Version 2
July 2023
The new prototype was significantly improved in terms of dimensions and weight, which means a lot of efforts to make the boards compact. New functionalities like incline resistence management and crash detection were added.
Version 3
October 2023
The last prototype has the impressive weight of 196 grams and dimensions that are more than 12 times smaller than the Version 1 in terms of Volume. Other areas of improvement are the housing quality, and the mounting solution found.
Version 4
June 2024
Being able to keep the same parts, we managed to keep the weight lighter than a deck of playing cards. But this time our other project "VeloTrax" became part of Portel and it allows it to: -Gather statistics for when, where and how you drive, that are sent to the Manicipalicy to help urban mobility -Emergency braking recognition -Better crash detection

However, under optimal conditions, the batteries can store energy for an extended period, ensuring that you always have backup power when you need it.
